Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated March 7, 1964 reads, "The Rev. David J. Evans has begun preaching at Northridge First Baptist church after moving from a congregation in Elizabeth, N. J. His hobbies are weightlifting and scuba diving." The article partially reads, "Mr. Evans and his wife first came to the Valley last summer on a vacation camping trip across the country to visit Mrs. Evans parents who live in Tujunga. During his stay he was asked to preach at the Northridge church, 17601 Saticoy St., which was at that time without a regular pastor, he said. Within two weeks the church offered him the pastorate, and he decided to accept."
