Description
This image was originally part of a California State Library photographic history project documenting the daily lives and historical, political, and cultural contributions of California's diverse communities. On June 12, 1999, Long Beach residents donated to the Long Beach Public Library 398 family and personal photographs as part of this ongoing statewide project. Shown here, an elderly woman wearing eyeglasses is seated in an armchair, working on a needlepoint project. She is the donor's grandmother, Louise Meacham, who lived on Daisy Avenue. Next to her is a lamp table covered with a decorative starched doily and a small shaded electric lamp with twin imitation "candlesticks." Floral drapes hang behind the lamp table. A dog sits at left in the immediate foreground. DATE NOTES: Noted on image back. ORIG. IMAGE: 6" x 9" B&W glossy print. NEGATIVE: No. KEYWORDS: Seniors, sewing, needlework, crochet.
