Description
The car between the engines appears to be an early Southern Pacific maintenance of way water car, according to Blaine P. Lamb, archivist of the California State Railroad Museum. One of a series of photographs found in a Salinas area house at 1900 El Camino Real. The house was scheduled for demolition when the freeway was built through Salinas. It was an area where many people connected with the railroad lived. Photos 696-702 were placed together in a rough wooden frame.
