San Francisco Jewish Community Center Records, 1877-1979
The collection provides an overview of the San Francisco Jewish Community Center's activities between 1930, its incorporation, and circa 1979. Files on the building campaign in the early 1930s, recreation, social, and educational programs, institutional finances, board matters, and general administration comprise the bulk of the collection. In addition, there are materials from the Young Men's Hebrew Association (YMHA), from which the SFJCC evolved, and from United Jewish Community Centers, the coordinating body of the Marin, San Francisco, and Peninsula Jewish Community Centers that was formed in 1960. San Francisco News-Call Bulletin Newspaper Photograph Archive (Free Speech Movement Selection)
The Free Speech Movement selection from the The San Francisco News-Call Bulletin newspaper photograph archive represents only a small portion of the total News-Call Bulletin photograph collection at The Bancroft Library. A representative group of photographs were selected from the original photographic negatives taken by staff photographers covering the Free Speech Movement protests at the University of California Berkeley in the fall of 1964 and the spring of 1965. San Francisco Police Photograph Album
Apparently the personal album of photographer George W. Blum, this scrapbook documents numerous San Francisco murder cases. Includes photographs of victims in the morgue and at crime scenes, mug shots of suspects, newsclippings, and occasional street views. The most prominent cases included are the Preparedness Day Parade bombing of 1916 (with Thomas Mooney et al.), and the Virginia Rappe murder case (with morgue photos and a mug shot of Fatty Arbuckle taken by Blum.)

San Joaquin Delta Land Reclamation Photographs, ca. 1904-1907
The San Joaquin Delta collection contains 97 photographic prints taken primarily by Charles A. Bishop circa 1904-1907 documenting various aspects of the reclamation, irrigation, and cultivation processes undertaken in the Middle River area of the San Joaquin Valley. Activities featured in the collection include dredging, pumping, transport by barge of freight and heavy field machinery, field cultivation and harvesting. The collection includes photographs of the Santa Fe Railroad depot area of Middle River; various waterways, canals, marshlands and fields of the vicinity; local residences; immigrant farm laborers; and samples of the yield from the farms. This digitized collection documenting the history of Japanese Americans who were sent to incarceration camps during World War II brings together the Success through Perseverance collection from the Fresno County Public Library and the JACL-CCDC Japanese American Oral History collection, TOMO Foundation and Japanese Americans in World War II collections from the Special Collections Research Center at California State University, Fresno. The digitized collection contains oral histories, newsletters and photographs. San Jose City Directories
A City Directory lists the names of individuals living within a city along with their place of residence and occupation. Beginning with the 1911 edition, names of spouses and children over 18 were also included. In 1913, a street index was added to the City Directory. This is the feature which will be most helpful to persons researching their house since it allows the searcher to look up a specific address and find who was living there.
