"The Murphy Building (pictured here, c. 1916), also known as the Mercantile Building, served as a store building and public hall where Fair Oaks residents and visitors have historically been able to buy groceries, visit a doctor, get a mouthful of ice cream, socialize, buy hardware, or purchase some insurance."
