A cart and a horse-drawn fire engine are shown at the base of the building, facing towards the right. Men are posed on or near it, all wearing firemen's helmets, yet dressed in different clothes. Above, throngs of fire fighters are distributed along the roof and two stories of the brick building, which has been decorated with banners.
