Photograph caption dated October 20, 1958 reads, "Thor is one Valley canine that knows just what he wants and exactly how to get it. Each day at first jingle of ice cream man's wagon, 10-month-old pup jumps up, grabs special paper bag containing correct change and rushes from his home at 13805 Daventry St., Pacoima, to purchase vanilla ice cream cup. George Walter, center, is only ice cream salesman with whom Thor will deal. Others jingle by and he doesn't even perk up his ears. If owner Jimmy Jones is not at home to open dessert delight, Thor rips off lid and proceeds to dine contentedly. Educated canine has been performing special trick more than three weeks and appears well pleased with his new-found ability to fend for himself in this suburban world."
