Description
In 1821 Fr. Mariano Payeras, the Franciscan Commissary Prefect, informed the northern missions of Alta California that governor Pablo Vicente de Solá had requested their financial support to help the presidio in Monterey and subsequently other presidios (military posts). The Alta California missions frequently provided supplies for the presidios. This letter is signed at the end by seven missions, stating the amount of their contribution to the presidio.
