Photograph caption reads: "Something of a sight on Wilshire Boulevard, Mary Lou the camel had an outing yesterday to draw attention to a goodwill visit to Israel next month by 1,000 Californians. Among those departing will be Sens. Alan Cranston and Pete Wilson. The Nov. 29 visit is being organized by the Israeli Tourist Office and sponsored by the Simon Wiesenthal Center". "Mary Lou the camel is paraded across Wilshire Bl. with "Calif. loves Israel" banner on her back. Mary Maguire, of Hermosa Beach, doesn't seem to mind sharing cross walk with Mary Lou as she heads for work". Photograph dated: Oct. 4, 1989.
