Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated August 1, 1956 reads, "Alfred Lushing, back to camera, left, asks for and gets show of hands of those opposed to his proposal to rezone three acres in Panorama City for use by Union Oil Co. as bulk storage plant. Faced with unanimous disapproval, Lushing withdrew application." The article partially reads, "Faced with the unanimous opposition of the householders and businessmen who packed the American Legion Hall in Van Nuys, Alfred Lushing, representing the owners of the land, asked for a show of hands and then informed City Planner Bert Krell that he was withdrawing his application."
