Description
Photograph of the remains of the old J.P. Bernal adobe on the F.E. "Lucky" Baldwin ranch in Pleasanton, ca.1937. The adobe, which was built in the 1850's, is obscured by a glut of landscaping in the foreground which includes a trellis, fountain, and a number of trees. The porch of the home can barely be seen, although the door is visible, framed by the trellis. The fountain in the foreground is protected by a wire fence installed around its perimeter. The adobe was long used as a barn and was located on what was part of the Rancho El Valle de San Jose, which was originally granted to Antonio Sunol, Antonio Maria Pico, Augustus Bernal and Juan P. Bernal.
