Photograph was edited for publication purposes Fire Station No. 89 located at 7063 Laurel Canyon Blvd. was also the site of the Los Angeles Fire Department Training Academy. Photograph caption dated January 28, 1960 reads, "Ceremonies at Los Angeles City Fire Department's Drill Tower Three, 7063 Laurel Canyon Blvd., North Hollywood, marked graduation of 46 men from nine weeks extensive training in firefighting techniques and procedures. Of 46, 42 were assigned to City engine houses, two to South Pasadena department, two to Palm Springs. Tower training was under supervision of department drill master, Capt. Austin M. Smith."
