Barbara Jo Rithell and Arthur Smith, students of West Vernon Avenue School, who were made "generals" for collecting more than 500 pounds each of waste paper for the paper drive, are shown with Victor L. Martins on March 21, 1944, as they weight in their harvest of old newspapers.
