Description
Neal Peirce and Jerry Hagstrom discuss their book, “The Book of America.” They begin by explaining that they wanted to give information about the cities, facts, and cultures of each of the 50 states. They say that each state has reacted differently to the changing national government. In addition, they wrote about the environment, quality of life, economy, and selection of government leaders for each state. Peirce and Hagstrom discuss the role television has played in government now that Congressional meetings are televised. They end the interview by talking about why they began the book with New York City, and how they decided to order the states. There are tracking problems during the interview.
