Image of a man walking on the remains of what was the Los Angeles and Independence Railroad wharf in Santa Monica, California.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). "No. 2 Wharf & [illegible] Santa Monica" written on item. Subject information from sleeve as it was received. Title based on note from Ernest Marquez, "Remains of the Los Angeles and Independence Wharf copied from original in R. Weinstein collection" is written on envelope as it was received; date devised by cataloger based on the history of the Los Angeles and Independence Wharf which was demolished in 1879.
