Description
Carl Sferrazza Anthony discusses his biography, “Nellie Taft.” He begins with stories from the early childhood of the future first lady and her unusually rebellious nature for a woman growing up in the late 1800s. He talks about her time spent traveling in the Philippines and abroad in other foreign countries. Anthony discusses Alice Roosevelt Longworth and her tumultuous relationship to both William Howard Taft and Helen Taft. Anthony ends his discussion with a few examples of political affairs that Helen Taft was involved with during her husband’s presidency and some traits that all first ladies have in common.
