SELF DETERMINATION------THIRD WORLD LIBERATION FRONT------3rd World College
Communique Number 6, February 19, 1969
BROTHERS AND SISTERS:
PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION; POLITICAL CONSCIOUSNESS IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE. IT IS ESSENTIAL TO THE FREEING OF OUR PEOPLE.
NOTICES:
1. AFT 1570 voted last night, 2/18/69, to support the TWLF Strike, and to strike also for their own demands. AFSCME will be honoring their picket lines today, and in the future, until hey have their own strike vote. They will be joining you on the picket lines--Welcome them to the struggle.
2. A Press Conference will be held at 11:00 am in the Senate Chambers, by the TWLF Progress Committee, to report on the progress not made by the Administration. After 3 1/2 weeks of meeting with the Chancellor and his office, very little good faith has been shown. What we may have wrung out of the Chancellor in way of concessions of the mandate to the Implementation Committee came reluctantly and slowly. The Progress Committee is changing into the TWLF Implementing Committee, a begin on the building of the College immediately; the Central Committee will meet directly with the Chancellor from now on.
3. Yesterday, there were at least 13 arrests made by the pigs on Campus. Remember, when arrested, or when you know of somebody being arrested, call the Legal Defense Center, at 2536 Channing way, 642-0804.
4. The Department of City and Regional Planning will cancel its classes all afternoon in order to discuss the strike. Members of the Administration, TWLF, and other parties, will be present up in Wurster Hall.
5. The Third World Faculty will be meeting tonight to discuss the possibilities of going out on strike. Also included are the Third World administrators, and the non-academic employees.
6. MASS THIRD WORLD MEETING, Friday, 3:00, probably in Pauley Ballroom. Please watch for notices and announcements on this very important event.
Reports
1. The Medical Committee announces that people will be on duty from 10:30 to 2:30, from lack of business. We are glad to let them have very little business. The doctor in Sproul Hall is, however, getting a lot more business.
2. The TWLF Steering Committee, composed of all the Committee Heads, meets daily at 4:00 pm in the Chicano Center, 2536 Channing Way. All our committees need help; please let committee heads know name, phone, address.
3. The TWLF Newspaper needs articles and good stuff; see Ron Lewis, at 642-0802.
4. Speakers Bureau: speakers needed--Call 642-4216, 506 Eshleman Hall.
