Description
Michelle Moran discusses her novel, “Nefertiti.” She begins by giving background information on the early life of Nefertiti. Nefertiti married Amenhotep who changed his name to Akhenaton, and eventually became the Pharaoh of Thebes. Moran discusses how she uses Egyptian history to make her characters more lifelike. She talks about how Nefertiti could possibly have acted as co-regent with her husband, and how she had 6 daughters. She describes how the Hittites may have brought a plague to Egypt during one of the open Egyptian festivals. Moran ends the interview by discussing her own experience on archaeological digs in Israel and her trips to Egypt.
