Photograph caption dated August 3, 1956 reads, "Harry Geyer and Jack Malin admire drawing of one of five signs planned to help locate Southland's largest shopping district at Laurel Canyon and Victory boulevards. Drawing was shown to members of Retail Merchants Committee at recent meeting. Valley Plaza will hold dollar days on Aug. 23-24-25 featuring prizes for shoppers."
