Description
James Zagel discusses his novel, “Money to Burn.” He begins by explaining that his book is about a federal judge in Chicago who decides to rob the Federal Reserve Bank. Zagel talks about his own career in courtrooms, and that he gave up his position as an attorney to become a judge. He describes that successful attorneys have to be good storytellers, so he decided to take a break from his job and write a fiction novel. He discusses how he wanted to understand the motivation of successful people who end up committing crimes. Martinson asks Zagel to read a passage from the book about how a judge gets sworn in. He ends the interview by talking about how he didn’t want to base any characters in the book on his real life acquaintances.
