Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph caption dated January 26, 1962 reads, "Samuel Reshevsky (inside), grand master of the Van Nuys Chess Club and former U. S. champion, meets one of his 39 opponents during a simultaneous-play chess exhibition sponsored by the club. Reshevsky defeated 34 opponents, was held to a draw by four and was defeated by one. The lone victor over the former champion was Kurt Smith, director of the club. Draws were accomplished by Robert Berggren, president of the Rocketdyne Chess Club; Joseph Turner, Van Nuys; Joseph Meyer, Malibu; and 16-year-old Jerome Levin, Van Nuys."; See images #00126441 through #00126442 for all photos in this series.
