Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes.
Tex Cooper, who claims to be the oldest active cowboy in the country, lustly cheers as some of the contestants try out the new bucking broncs at the preview and barbecue. He was to ride in the grand entry parade at the 16th annual Newhall-Saugus Rodeo, April 26 and 27, 1941. He is also a film character actor and colorful figure in "Gower Gulch" and other Hollywood streets. Cooper long ago adopted the mustache, goatee and long hair of his idol, Buffalo Bill. The actor, six feet two inches tall, was married to a midget, three feet nine, known in her circus days as Lady Dolly. On July 6, 1946, they celebrated their 28th wedding anniversary. He died at age 87 on March 29, 1951.
