Drucker introduces this recording by describing the book it is based on. He says that this is going to talk about what to do in turbulent inflationary times. It discusses management fundamentals for handling innovation, change, growth and the new realities in society, economy, population, and markets. It doesn’t tell a manager exactly what to do but it helps him learn what to think through, study and watch. After Drucker’s introduction, a male and female narrator alternate speaking. They discuss dangerous deceptions to be wary of, profit and productivity, and systematic abandonment policy. They also talk about managing the four key resources, which are capital, crucial physical assets, time, and knowledge. It is also explained that the minimum cost of staying in business is the cost of capital, and that what is most profitable over long periods of time are single product businesses with the right product.
