Photograph caption dated February 22, 1956 reads, "Inspectors Aris Sherwood and Bert Mann, Commissioner William McCann, of Board of Public Works and Councilman Earle Baker, from left, inspect plans as heavy equipment moves in to start work on $220,000 two-lane bridge at Ventura boulevard and Colfax avenue to replace structure washed out in 1938 flood. Byerts and Sons, contractors, expect project to be completed by April 1."
