Photograph was edited for publication purposes Photograph article dated February 10, 1962 partially reads, "The lamentable tragedy of a seven-year-old Canoga Park boy being swept to death in an unprotected flood control channel, brings into uncomfortable focus the oft-remarked bureaucratic characteristic of 20/20 hindsight. There is an inescapable attraction as ageless as springtime. It is hardly conceivable that its existence should have been overlooked particularly in the vicinity of an elementary school." Photograph caption reads, "This is an inexcusable hazard. A Canoga Park boy was swept to his death in this unprotected river channel."
