Description
Image of a symbolic landscape scene as viewed by an old man (bottom left) featuring a meadow near a stream with schoolchildren to represent childhood, lovers seated beneath a tree to represent youth, and a man driving a hay cart past livestock to represent adulthood.
Part of Prang's American Chromos series. Title, alternate title, and date supplied by cataloger based on original painting held by the Albany Institute of History & Art and an L. Prang & Co. advertisement in The Literary World, October 1, 1872. "A. B. Durand"--text, artist's signature, bottom left of image. "W. Harring Chr"--text, bottom right of image.
