Description: Washington: Gen. John D Lavelle laughingly waves off reporters after testifying 6/12 before a House Armed Services subcommittee probing his firing for reportedly ordering unauthorized bombing attacks over North Vietnam earlier this year. Gen. Lavelle acknowledged that he ordered the bombing last winter of military targets in North Vietnam, probably beyond rules laid down by the Pentagon, but he testified he felt his action was justifiable.
