Description
Naval crew and officers lining deck and turret on board the battleship U.S.S. Missouri (BB-63). The U.S.S. Missouri was the third ship of the United States Navy to be named in honor of the U.S. state of Missouri and is the final battleship to be built by the United States. This photo was taken during the ship's second decommissioning ceremony held in San Pedro on March 31, 1992. At the time of the ceremony, she had received a total of eleven battle stars for service in World War II, Korea, and the Persian Gulf. Her name was maintained on the Naval Vessel Register until January 1995, when it was then struck. In 1998 she was donated to the Missouri Memorial Association, and is now a museum ship at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
