Description
Photograph was edited for publication purposes
Photograph article dated September 19, 1962 partially reads, "Do you have a death trap in your garage? An unused refrigerator, put there perhaps when you got a new one? Get rid of it, says Charles Hix, first lieutenant of the San Fernando reserve police. He and the other 25 San Fernando reserve officers have opened a campaign to collect and destroy as many as possible of the empty refrigerators in North Valley communities. 'I feel that there are quite a few in the North Valley,' he said. 'And there are enough dangers around the house. If we could get rid of such refrigerators, it would be one less.'" Pictured are Lt. Charles Hix, left, and Sgt. Chuck Stein.
