Description
Japanese American Citizens League, Fourth Biennial National Convention, September 4-7, Seattle, Washington, souvenir program. Items collected by Walter T. Tsukamoto, a civilian lawyer and judge advocate (JA) captain (CPT) in the Army Reserve. Tsukamoto was President of the National Japanese American Citizen's League (JACL) from 1938-1942. He was incarcerated in Tule Lake Incarceration Camp until March 10, 1943, when he was accepted into the U.S. Army and became the first Asian-American to serve on active duty in the Judge Advocate General's Department (JAGD).
