Photograph article dated August 31, 1949 partially reads, "In 1893 a terrifying world of darkness suddenly engulfed a little 8-year-old boy, who, until that awful moment, had lived in a world of sunshine. The child was Joseph W. Jones, and that darkness - blindness - was caused by a tropical fever. After many unforgettable black weeks little Joseph's sight slowly returned but, not fully. He still had to wear glasses... Today, at the age of 64, Joseph W. Jones has found his niche. He works long hours on a very modest salary so that others whose vision is impaired can lead a happier and more complete life. He is president and founder of International Guiding Eyes, Inc., with offices in the International Association of Machinists Building, 5501 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood."
