Description: Federal Telegraph Company stock certificate number 8636, issued August 21, 1924, to L. E. Strauss, for one hundred shares. Federal Telegraph, often strapped for funding, was reorganized more than once to draw in ever-more powerful West coast investors. By this point, the company had been taken over by San Francisco financial interests, led by Rudolph Spreckels of the Spreckels Sugar empire.
