Description
Four survivors of "the Blue and the Gray" met again on common ground. They sat together at the Coliseum to join in paying tribute to America's World War heroes in Armistice Day exercises. There were three of the Blue, the Union men, and one of the Gray. Photo shows, from left to right: second row, Capt. Eugene Merrick, 79, who fought with the 147th Illinois Infantry; Col. J. C. Brooks, 85, 20th Tennessee Infantry; A. H. Cain, 86, 50th Missouri Infantry; and Corp. Joseph Carter, 92, 50th Missouri Infantry. Photo dated: November 12, 1934.
