Description
This circa 1900 postcard portrays an idyllic day on Bannon Creek, previously known as First Bannon Slough. Located near the Natomas section of Sacramento, or two-and-a-half miles northwest of the Capitol Building, the water feature occupied an impression known as American Basin. Large portions of First Bannon Slough were coopted in 1863 to redirect the American River in an effort to abate flooding around the Capital City.
