Description
Award of the "Distinguished War Service" banner was presented on March 15, 1944, to Emerson Junior High School for having collected more than 50 pounds of waste paper per pupil in the current paper drive. Left to right, Mrs. Ralph Lewis of Tenth District PTA; Arthur Andersen, vice principal; and Jim Harris, student body president. The banner was sponsored by the Daily News, Examiner, Herald Express and the Times newspapers.
