New Jerusalem Church, Tranquebar. Built by the missionaries in 1718, to replace the first primi Ny Jerusalems Kirke, Trankebar. Således finder bispevielser stadig sted i denne kirke. Foran kirkens alter er missionær B. Ziegenbalg begravet. (Foto 1987)

Description
New Jerusalem Church, Tranquebar. Built by the missionaries in 1718, to replace the first primitive church at the native town. At the gable end is the monogram of King Frederik IV. The church, being the oldest Lutheran Mission Church in India, is regarded as a kind of "Cathedral" by the Lutheran Christians of South India. Therefore Consecration of Bishops still takes place at this church. In front of the Church Altar the Missionary B. Ziegenbalg is buried. (Photo 1987).
