In September 1947, Thomas Redhead stole a 45-passenger bus from Downtown Los Angeles and drove it to San Diego, after escaping from the Juvenile Camp at Mount Baldy. He was then sent to the Whittier School for Boys where he escaped again in December 1947.
First photograph caption dated October 20, 1947 reads "Geo. W. Redhead, left; son, Thomas G. Redhead. Boy, 14, in court, admits stealing bus and driving it to San Diego."; Second photograph caption dated December 9, 1947 reads "Talented escapee is on the loose again."
