Description
"Strohblumen auf Trockengestellen in Elim." ("Strawflowers on drying shelves in Elim."). The picture shows many drying shelves for immortelles (Helichrysum). The shelves are in a small room. Opposite the shelves many strawflowers are lying on the ground.
The strawflower is a flowering plant of the genus Helichrysum in the sunflower family (Asteraceae). There are an estimated 600 species. It occurs in Africa (with 244 species in South Africa), Madagascar, Australasia and Eurasia.
