Photograph caption dated October 24, 1954 reads, "Antelope Valley Indian Museum, on Piute Butte, 20 miles east of Lancaster, opened this week for the winter season with a display of 30 desert Indian pictographs by Charles LaMonk, loaned for five weeks by Los Angeles County Museum. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Oliver, owners of the private repository for relics of Ancient Man in the Southwest, will end a series of coffee hours for Valley teachers Sunday, 9 to 10:30 a.m. when A. V. High School faculty will be guests. The museum is also headquarters for A. V. Archeological Associition [sic]."
