Description
Shown is a postcard of the Paris French Laundry, located on 801 M Street in circa 1910. The laundromat was established by Lina Cazau and her brother Henry Frei, both of whom immigrated to California from Switzerland in the 1890s (Frei in 1893 and Cazau in 1896). Frei died on May 26, 1916, following an operation for appendicitis, leaving Cazau in charge of operating the Paris French Laundry until 1920, at which time she sold the business.
