Description: Photo shows construction underway for the Hyperion Sewage Treatment Plant. From 1894 to 1925, raw sewage was dumped into the waters. The original treatment plant, seen in the upper right of the photo, was built in 1925 as a simple screening facility. This proved to be inadequate, however, and just after World War II plans and construction began for a full treatment facility. Photo dated: December 25, 1947.
