Description
Photograph of a view of Mission San Buenaventura and early Ventura from east along Main Street, Ventura, California, ca.1885. Stockpiles of lumber belonging to Chaffee and Boustel (Bonestal?) Lumber Co. are stacked to the right of the mission's quadrangle (center). To the left of the quadrangle is the church and bell tower. The mission appears to be in dilapidated condition. "Lumberyard is east of remaining quadrangle. Hill school is on hill in back of mission. Lumber belonged to a lumberyard owned by Bonestal and [Chaffee Lumber Co.]."
