A family en route to Temple crosses the abandoned Red Car tracks on Chandler Boulevard; site where the MTA Orange Line now runs. MTA Orange Line, also known as the Metro Liner, travels along a $329.5 million route. Most of the 14-mile route is fenced off, but it crosses 36 signaled intersections and has 13 scheduled stops on its route. The Orange Line was formerly named San Fernando Metro Rapidway, but the MTA Board of Directors approved a name change on January 22, 2004, that being Metro Orange Line, which refers to the many citrus trees that once blanketed the San Fernando Valley. Metro Liner travels between the Warner Center and North Hollywood Metro Red Line subway station in approximately 42 minutes. In May 2006, the average boardings per weekday for this line reached 21,828. Photograph dated May 12, 2000.
