Photograph caption dated February 1, 1955 reads, "Shirley Cooper of North Hollywood, thought to be Valley's only woman paraplegic veteran of World War II, reads news of her election as first vice commander of AMVETS, William A. Murphy Post 14, at Valley Times teletype machine. She will be installed with other new officers Saturday at North Hollywood Sportsmen's Club."
