Two prints in folder. The Recreation Park golf course clubhouse is Long Beach Historic Landmark 16.52.070 and is located at 5000 East Anaheim Street. It is one of Long Beach's few civic buildings remaining and represents the only recreation building constructed prior to 1933. The Recreation Park and its golf courses was purchased from the Alamitos Land Company and the San Gabriel River Improvement Company in 1923. Earlier, the Virgina Country Club and golf course existed on the site. A clubhouse was constructed in 1925 which was moved across Seventh Street to become the clubhouse for the new nine-hole course constructed in 1929. The present Recreation Park golf course clubhouse was constructed in 1929 for a cost of fifty thousand dollars. Four golfers are putting on the green in front of the Recreation Park golf course clubhouse in Long Beach. Golf bags lie scattered on the course in the foreground. The two-story clubhouse has a tiled roof and a porch on the second floor the overlooks the green. The view is looking southwest. April 3, 1937.
