The Regina Coeli Orphanage was founded by Mother (Frances Xavier) Cabrini, 1850-1916, the patron saint of immigrants and the first American citizen to be named a Roman Catholic saint. Prior to being an orphanage, the property was known as ""Edgemont"" and owned by department store founder Joseph W. Robinson and his wife Julie Barnum. The site was later redeveloped as an apartment complex.
Prayer alcove on the grounds of the former Regina Coeli Orphanage, located on Sunset Boulevard (later Cesar E. Chavez Avenue) and N. Hill Place.
