Photograph caption dated October 23, 1929 reads, "One of the strangest plants is the jumping cactus, so called because whenever a person approaches it, it leans in that direction. Mary Jo Baird tries it out." This appears to have been taken at a Pasadena nursery prior to the Southern California Flower Show, held in Pasadena through October 23-October 26, 1929.
