Photograph article dated March 16, 1957 partially reads, "Violinist Glen Mitchell today is serving 30 days in jail because he refused to give up his cats under a court order. Mitchell appeared in Van Nuys Municipal Court yesterday and told Judge Francis A. Cochran, 'I'd rather go to jail than give up my cats.' Mitchell, 10235 Russett St., Sunland, informed the judge that he had gotten rid of all of his cats but eight and 'couldn't bear the thought of getting rid of the rest of them.' The judge told Mitchell, 'I have given you every opportunity to get rid of the cats, but you have not complied with the court order of Feb. 20 and I have no alternative but to remand you to the city jail for 30 days.'"
