Description
For 3.5" and 5.0" aircraft rockets. 2.96" long. Steel and brass. Modification of AIR-2 (Mk137) fuze, designed to be used in combination with a base fuze. Could be used safe (unarmed) or armed at the pilot's discretion. About 5,000 fuzes were manufactured and loaded for the navy by Caltech and delivered late in 1943. Also 25,000 sets of parts were made for assembly with parts from AIR-2 (Mk137). "A": cutaway version with cap (shipping guard); "B": has cap and adapter to accommodate different thread arrangement for fuze seat liner of the 5.0" rocket. 1943
