Description
This 1950s photograph depicts the following Third Street businesses: Wing Lee and Company Meat Market at 1122 Third Street, the Eastern Hotel at 1118 Third Street, and the Cinco De Mayo Pool Hall at 1118 Third Street.
Wing Lee Company Meat Market opened at this location between 1909 and 1913, when they made expansions to the building. Wing Lee, also known as Jan Wai, founded the shop and ran it with his son David until his death in 1932. Wing Lee Company relocated to West Sacramento in 1963, shortly before the Sacramento Redevelopment Agency destroyed these buildings to make way for Interstate 5.
The Eastern Hotel was in open as early as 1913 and operated through the late 1950s.
